mythai’s mission:

Build health-conscious products that are true to authentic Thai flavors!

our values

authenticity

Healthier does not mean less authentic. Although we are substituting ingredients here and there, we strive to maintain the core flavors. This is easy to do when many Thai foods are already quite healthy and vegan-friendly! Sharing the true tastes of Thai culture is just as important to making sure our products are healthy.

inclusivity

Thai flavors are for everyone! MyThai strives to make authentic Thai dishes and drinks more easily accessible to everyone. As the company grows inclusivity in how we hire and form relationships is equally as important!

adaptability

The start of MyThai began as an adaptation for Thai Tea. Keeping that spirit in mind, we are committed to always being adaptable to our customer and employee feedback as to how to continue making the brand better. Adaptability stretches across all business functions and is core to what we do!

who is this face?

You may have noticed this face around the site and across our socials, but might be wondering exactly what it is. Or maybe you knew instantly and are scrolling past this! Either way, the answer is a Thai Yak. The Yak is a guardian warrior who keeps away evil spirits. You can find many guarding the temples in Thailand as well as right here in Central Florida at Wat Florida Dhammaram. This rendering is representative of our goal to take classic Thai culture and give it a modern twist.

Who is THIS face?

Hello!

My name is Prayo Smitasin and I am the founder of MyThai. I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida where my family owned and operated a Thai restaurant for 20 years called Tasty Thai Cuisine on Curry Ford Road. Because of this, I grew up with the privilege of eating Thai food whenever I wanted and getting to visit family in Bangkok during the summers - leaving one hot tropic for another.

I went to Winter Park high school (Go Cats!), then Duke University, and have now found my way back to calling Orlando home again. The weekends I wasn’t working at the Science Center or walking around Park Ave I spent with my mom at the very same farmer’s markets MyThai is launching in and I cannot express the level of full-circle joy this brings me.

Throughout my life I have had some amazing (and some not so amazing) opportunities to travel to different places around America and the world. One of the beautiful things I have seen during these travels is just how wide spread Thai culture and food has become. However, the one thing I struggle to find anywhere I am is a good cup of Thai Tea. Although Thai Tea itself is becoming a much more popular and loved flavor (as it should), I’ve found that most boba places or even Thai restaurants will used powdered mixes or simply lack the depth and richness I’d get in Bangkok.

Along with this - and the reason I unfortunately could not drink Thai Tea every day growing up - is because traditional Thai Tea is NOT the best for you. An average cup contains about 2/3 of a recommended daily amount of sugar and is about 154 calories. Given all of the alternatives and food technology advancements, I figured that there had to be a way to make this better, healthier, and more accessible to anyone, anytime they wanted a cup.

And that is how MyThai was born! This has truly been a passion project for me and has made me learn a myriad of new skills - from financial forecasting to creating a TikTok series. I am incredibly proud of the company I have created and I hope that MyThai can bring the tastes of my childhood to everyone!

I look forward to meeting new faces and sharing MyThai at a Farmer’s Market nearby with y’all soon!

Best,

Prayo :)
